We will spending the week visiting various firms in the area with our local distributor, Old Country Floors.

Utilizing our newest presentation which covers the new changes to the ANSI 137.1 for the manufacturing standards for ceramic tile, covering the newest classification, Porcelain Tile, we discuss a wide variety of real world applications and review the physical characteristics of each tile type.

Andrea Mo of StonePeak Ceramics has done a great job of filling the week with many calls to architects and designers to teach them the new ANSI standards.

Dallas TX

Nicole Mynatt of StonePeak Ceramics and Azi Soltano of American Tile have succesfully set up this phenominal week to teach the design community of the Dallas area where we will be teaching the newest changes per the 2008 ANSI 137.1 - standards for the production of ceramic tile. 

We discuss everything from mosaics to quarry to porcelain and the physical and technical differences between each category classification.

StonePeak Ceramics and I will be presenting "Porcelain Tile - LEED...ing to Design Sustainability" for several firms in Louisville KY.

AIA SW Atlanta and IIDA Chapter hosted their March meeting at the newest of Traditions in Tile showrooms in the Newnan GA location.

 

Both chapters had an evening of Green Building discussions, starting with a presentation by GreenGuard about 3rd part certification and the followed by our presentation on "Porcealin Tile - LEED...ing to Design Sustainability".

David Callahan hosted the event with wine, cheese and pasta appetizers.

Melbourne,  FL

AIA Melbourne Chapter selected the "Urethane Grout - The New Grout Revolution has Begun" for their CEU program at their March meeting held at Florida Institiute of Technology in Melbourne.

 

Lynn Jolier of Dal Tile and Steve Price and Matt Lynch of Star Quartz Industies were on hand to assist and also coordinated the dinner/business meeting presentation.

 February 11-16

Cincinnati, OH

Tom Baker and Peter Ritili of StonePeak Ceramics coordinated our week in Cincinnati, OH to present the AIA CES Program -  "Porcelain Tile - The Best Performing Flooring - Why?" to various architectural and design firms.

We ended the week at the firm of FRCH Design and had a great sessions with many questions as to their ability to utilize porcelain tile better.

A special thanks to Brad Back of Mees Distributors, our local distributor, for handloing all of the arrangements and setting up the week of appointments and sponsoring of the luncheon events at each firms.

Louisville, KY

Peter Ritili of StonePeak Ceramics and Dave MacIntosh of Mees Distributors coordinated our week in Cincinnati, OH to present the AIA CES Program -  "Porcelain Tile - The Best Performing Flooring - Why?"

We started the week with the architectural show at the convention center and ended the week with various firms and to teach them how to utilize porcelain tile better on future projects.

Tampa, FL

Jim Russ of Mapei and Stacia Sge of Trinity Tile sponsored an AIA CES luncheon Prorgram - "Multi-Purpose Thinset Mortar Myth" by Mapei Corporation at the Tampa architectural firm, Curts Gaines Hall Jones Architects.

They assisted me in teaching the firm the different types of thinset mortars that are produced today and how to determine what the differences are and where they proposed to be used based on applications and strengths. We also discuss the difference between polymer modified and liquid latex additives and when they are needed.

 February 6

Atlanta, GA

Meredith Ramsey of Traditions in Tile in Atlanta, GA sponsored an AIA CES luncheon presentation - "Movement Joints in Ceramic Tile and Stone" by Blanke Corporation given at the architectural and interior design firm of POH Architects, Inc. in Alpharetta, GA.

She assited me in teaching the firm that main reasons that tile and stone floors fail and one of the biggest is the improper design of the movement joints. We use actual case history studies to show that area of concern and what type of products are availabe to assist in their designs.
